Project Description
Vale Newfoundland is responsible for the Voisey's Bay development which involved the construction and operation of a mine and concentrator in Voisey's Bay, Labrador and processing facilities in Long Harbour, Newfoundland.
Cahill, through its subsidiary Ushitau Maintenance Limited, provides maintenance services for the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. Iskueteu-ABB, another Cahill subsidiary, provides full service maintenance for the site. Cahill has provided, and continues to provide, an extensive scope of work at the Voisey's Bay Mine Site. Cahill completed:

the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and maintenance work for the construction and permanent camps at Voisey's Bay;

the electrical and mechanical project scopes for the Mine Mill Concentrator and the Explosives Facility; and the construction and maintenance work for the site wide and port mechanical and electrical utilities and the mine maintenance service complex.
Cahill was the prime contractor for the Voisey's Bay Mine Site Electrical Rooms. Cahill completed the design, electrical and HVAC work and then fabricated and outfitted these electrical rooms. Cahill then shipped them from Bay Roberts where they were constructed to the Voisey's Bay site. Cahill also fabricated a 450 tonne Shiploader for the Voisey's Bay mine mill complex.
